Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is a world renowned leader in welding education and technical training. Currently, Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is seeking an experienced Welding Curriculum and Development Manager based in Troy, Ohio.

Job Description:

The funciton of the Welding Curriculum and Development Manager is to lead all activities as related to promoting HIWT and growing HIWT’s strategic thrusts in

Curriculum Development, Bookstore & Supply Store operations and Bookstore & Supply Store sales. The Welding Curriculum and Development must be data and results driven.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Curriculum Development activities including outside vendors

  • Organize and lead internal and external curriculum content experts as required

  • Manage new product development and forecasts

  • Monitor and upgrade all existing curriculum materials

  • Manage daily activities in bookstore and supply store

  • Manage bookstore staff, supply store staff and annual evaluations

  • Manage internal use educational i.e. tests, PowerPoints, DVD’s etc.

  • Monitor key measurable for products and sales (monthly reports and plans)

  • Promote and market HIWT to industry

  • Manage HIWT inventory levels and cycle counts

  • Create and drive HIWT curriculum growth initiatives, including development and use of new technologies

  • Develop sales strategies in government, distribution, retail and international

  • Develop and maintain departmental business plan and 5 year strategic plans

  • Maintain HIWT Library Collection, History Gallery, Historical equipment and Materials

  • Maintain HIWT curriculum copyright, trademark, site license compliancy’s

  • Monitor HIWT online activity as it relates to spam, copyright and crime

  • Manage patent activities

  • Select and participate in local, regional and national trade events and conferences. Work with Marketing Manager for sales and marketing message.

  • Participate and lead grant writing opportunities for HIWT

  • Manage HIWT online educational products

  • Drive the creation of course and training and materials catalogs annually. Work with staff on addendum changes for compliancy.

  • Identify market needs and market direction for HIWT strategic planning needs

Job Requirements

  • Welding industry knowledge

  • Experience in education and/or curriculum

  • Willingness to travel by car and airplane

  • Graduate from a post high school program (2 or 4 Year degree or Career College) or equivalent work experience that provides necessary job knowledge or skill.

  • Effective writing and strong grammar is essential

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign & Social media

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work in Office and lab environment

Desired Skill, Knowledge and Abilities

  • 3-5 years in project management

  • 3-5 years recent sales, marketing or business development

  • 3-5 years education/curriculum development experience

  • Experience in digital content and delivery of educational materials a plus

  • Experience with AWS Sense standards or NCCER training curriculum a plus
