TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
Open to current members and those eligible for membership of the Arizona Air National Guard, in the rank of E1-E6. Applicants will maintain their current military assignment.
This job announcement is for employment as an Arizona Air National Guard Technician; a Federal/ Excepted Civil Service position. This is a dual-status technician job whereby you are required to maintain active membership in a National Guard unit/wing and are required to wear the military uniform at the workplace.
NOTES: Merit of Order
NOTE: Military grade will be determined at time of selection and is dependent upon military positions available on the Unit Manning Document (UMD). Individual selected may have to be reduced in grade if a military position at their current grade is not available in order to be selected for this fulltime position.

This position is located at the 162 Wing Tucson, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, reconfigure, modify, test, and adjust aircraft ordnance systems, equipment and components. Primary duties include (but are not limited to) performing on and off equipment scheduled and unscheduled inspections; reconfiguration and modification of aircraft weapons suspension equipment based on mission requirements; positioning, loading, unloading, and safing air munitions using applicable technical data and handling equipment; performing operational tests of weapons release, launch, and gun systems to verify proper function; interpreting schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams and using manual and automated test equipment to identify and isolate system malfunctions to the component level; repair or replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), electrical components, power and digital communications wiring and matrix assemblies; maintaining a knowledge of basic electronics, and the principles of physics, mechanics, and hydraulics as applied to weapons release, launch, and gun systems; inspection and maintenance of weapons related test and support equipment; receiving general work assignments from the supervisor in the form of work orders, inspection reports, and verbal instructions. Work involves tasks indoors and outdoors, in inclement weather and on icy, wet or slippery ramps and aircraft surfaces in temperature and humidity extremes. Physical effort involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions and in hard to reach places. Position is subject to rotating shifts and assignment of additional duties.

Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard and must possess for the following AFSC : 2W1X1

Acceptance of a Federal Excepted technician position of over 179 days in length will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (BONUS). Individual selected will be required to take a pre-employment medical screening which will be paid for by the Agency.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) funds are not available for this position.
QUALIFICATION:Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic, WG-6652-05/08/11, E1-E6
Specialized Experience: 6 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IN THIS POSITION:
Knowledge and ability to analyze and isolate aircraft systems malfunctions by application of troubleshooting procedures and test equipment.
Knowledge and ability to disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, lubricate, and assemble mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic mechanisms.
Knowledge and ability to position, load, and unload air munitions safely using applicable handling, loading, and checkout procedures and equipment.
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineer drawings.
Knowledge of maintenance records procedures.
