IKEA Deputy Store Manager in Canada


This development role is designed to prepare experienced Retail Managers for an IKEA Store Manager’s position within a 2 year time frame. Strong leadership skills and the ability to perform in a high volume sales environment are core competencies for this position.Line management responsibility, involvement in comprehensive IKEA training and exposure to Project Management are key elements of this position.**It is also expected that within this 2 year timeframe the successful candidate will gain the knowledge, capability and mobility to become a Store Manager in a location other than their original store.

**Your Mission:

  • In partnership with, and coached by, the Store Manager ensure that the store operates efficiently and profitably and provides our customers with the best possible shopping experience in line with our concept.

  • Assume direct responsibility for a portion of the store’s management team. (The specific functions involved will be determined by the needs of the business and your own developmental requirements).

**Your Goals:

  • Develop a well rounded knowledge of the business as preparation for the Store (General) Manager’s role.

  • Lead and support the recruitment, selection and development of managers and co-workers.

  • Partner to lead the store operations to maximize the customer experience, co-worker satisfaction, profitability and the IKEA concept.

  • Monitor and analyze the store’s performance (using Key Performance Indicators and other tools) and devise change initiatives when necessary to optimize these results.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the company at store, national and international levels

  • Assume other leadership roles when necessary including Acting Store Manager, Training Facilitator and Project Leader.

  • By using effective concept implementation, active community involvement and communicating through company values drive Brand awareness to increase market share.

You Have:

  • The ability to operate independently, and communicate effectively, at all levels of an extremely fast-paced, change oriented organization.

  • 5-8 years of senior Retail General Management experience, preferably in a high volume or multi-unit environment.

  • Anundergraduate degree in Business or Retail Management.

  • A dynamic, collaborative, “hands-on” leadership profile.

  • An energetic and motivational communication style

  • Well developed strategic, organizational and decision making skills.

  • Proven P&L; accountability.

  • Mobility an asset (upon successful movement into a Store Manager’s role).
