JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Medical Officer provides senior executive leadership for Seton Medical Center in facilitating interactions with medical staff, hospital administration and the governing board and to assure effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the Mission and Values of the Daughters of Charity Health System and Seton Medical Center/Seton Coastside. **

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

? M.D. degree and relevant Board Certification

EXPERIENCE:

? 10 or more years experience post residency/internship in clinical practice/direct care.

? At least five years leadership experience in a complex healthcare organization.

? Some experience in non-profit preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

? M.D. or D.O. who has graduated from an accredited medical school

? Licensed to practice medicine and able to obtain a California License

? Board certified in an approved ABMS or AOA clinical specialty.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

? Demonstrated achievements in non-academic hospitals or similar organizations where there are community physicians on the voluntary medical staff.

? A track record of leadership in physician services, clinical quality improvement, patient safety and medical staff development.

? Proven skills at developing, nurturing and managing physician relations, and the ability to establish and expand professional alliances and close working relationships.

? Problem solving skills and productively manages conflict.

? Computer competency with a working knowledge of current information technology used in patient care, finance and budget management.

? Experience with hospital and health system-wide implementation of clinical information technologies including computerized physician order entry, electronic health records and community health information networks.

? Working knowledge of applicable Joint Commission Standards, California Title 22 and CMS Conditions of Participation.

? Experience in the use of process improvement methods and tools.
