Western State Hospital (WSH) has an opening for a Recreational Therapist 2 position located in Administration-Center for Forensic Services (CFS). This is a day shift position - 4/10 work schedule (9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.) Thursday through Sunday.

A quick overview of your role and duties:
- Provide professional level therapy services to patients with severe mental health illness both on the ward and the Recovery Center.
- Assess, plan, implement and conduct need-based psycho-educational treatment groups and individual therapy.
- Evaluate, assess, plan, implement, and document age specific occupational therapy based programming.
- Implement individualized treatment plans assisting patients restore, remediate or rehabilitate to improve functioning and independence.
- Provide consultation and recommendations to a multidisciplinary treatment team regarding patient's recreational therapy needs.
- Conduct quality assurance audits and recommend improvements on rehabilitation services work practices.
- Provide consultation to management in regards to Quality Assurance results and recommendation.
- Maintain all applicable policies and procedures.
- Interview patients, develop, and document individualized assessments and treatment plans.
We are looking for applicants who have:
Graduated from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program AND have 18 months of full-time professional therapeutic recreation experience.
Have a current Washington State Department of Health registration as a Recreation Therapist (or must be eligible to obtain one and, if offered the position, must become registered within 30 days of employment). AND Must maintain National Certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRC)

Who we are: Western State Hospital is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in-patient mental health hospital, with two psychiatric centers consisting of the Center for Forensic Services (CFS) and the Psychiatric Treatment and Recovery Center (PTRC). Also included on the hospital grounds is the Habilitative Mental Health Unit (HMH). We are a psychiatric hospital serving western Washington by providing evaluation and inpatient treatment for adults with serious or long-term mental illness.
