Description

Under the direction of the Director, this position is responsible for all food preparation aspects of the of the dining and nutritional services operation. Is committed to the preparation of high quality food products for patients, visitors and staff. Assist in the maintenance of sound inter-departmental relations and the integrating of dining services of the dining services department within the health care system. This position will provide director supervision to café staff and nutrition service staff. This position will also oversee the procurement, utilization and distribution of food/supplies.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Food Service Management (or related field).

Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

  • Current Serve Safe Certification (or within 6 months of hire).

Prior Experience:

  • 1-3 years of progressively more responsible experience in high volume, institutional food service management.

  • Prior culinary training

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in the use of Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Strong leadership ability, independent thinking and decision-making ability; analytical problem solving skills, sound judgment; excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to function in a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate with all members of the health care team

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments

  • Knowledge of state food serving regulations. Ability to promote team building.

Preferred Factor:

  • (1) Advanced Culinary Degree or Experience. (2) Prior purchasing experience. (3) Prior food production experience.
