Bayer Senior Technical Service Representative in United States

Your tasks and responsibilities

This primary responsibility of this position will provide technical support to the US Ornamental business. This position is residence based and the candidate can work from anywhere in the United States.

The other responsibilities of the Senior Technical Service Representative are as follows:

• Be the principal focus and contact for the direction of technical service activities and the transition of new products and uses from Development to Marketing and Sales; • Support ornamental sales team by organizing and/or presenting technical information on our products, maintaining effective supportive relationships with key cooperators/influencers, maintaining university recommendations for our products, assisting in obtaining special registrations (SLN and Section 18), assisting in product complaints, product training and supporting other sales activities necessary to optimize the marketing of our products; • Contribute to strategic plan and annual business plan development for the Ornamental business; • Contribute to business success in Canadian ornamental business, global ornamental business and US lawn & landscape and turf business; • The technical service team is responsible for providing first class technical support to the green business; • To work closely with the BES MM’s, PM‘s, sales force to help sell product on technical merit (technical data sheets, research data, label and regulatory issues, technical support materials); • Prepare Sales and the influencer community for new product introductions; • Work with MM’s, PM‘s, RSM’s and FDRs to prepare a transition from development to market introduction well in advance of anticipated registration; • Take an active role in training BES FSRs, distributors and end-users on new and existing products; • Profile new and existing products for exploitation of local markets; • Project priorities: Work with the MM’s, PM‘s and RSM’s to identify projects to pursue relative to BES Green business priorities; • Maintain and increase market position through continued Sales Reps training, distributor and end user training, complaint support, and by resolving local technical issues; • To insure product longevity and growth, guided by MM’s and PM‘s, coordinate demonstration plot testing and exploration for market expansion and product defense opportunities; • Develop leadership abilities by coordinating with Field Development Manager and PDMs in planning, organizing and implementing field programs and sales support activities; • Act as the technical liaison between Bayer key customers and Development and Technical Services, Regulatory Affairs and the business lines.

• Strong scientific mastery; preferably a Ph.D. in Horticulture, Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology or a related field and 10+ years of practical experience; • Proven track record in providing technical support; • A thorough knowledge of the professional ornamental markets; • Demonstrated problem solving skills necessary to deal with complex technical issues; • Ability to conduct technical training and interactions with sales & marketing.
