  • The Financial Management Analyst track is a unique and versatile opportunity to touch all aspects of GSA’s business. You will rotate throughout GSA's Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OFCO) as well as financial offices within the business lines. The OFCO is responsible for preparing and administering the agency's $24 billion dollar budget, financial plans, legislation, and regulations as well as managing more than 30 GSA funds. In addition to maintaining internal financial operations, the OFCO provides reimbursable payroll, accounting, and financial services to other government agencies. Applicants interested in pursuing a career in GSA's federal financial management community will gain hands on work experience involving the agency's major financial initiatives and operations.

When we begin accepting applications for Financial Management Analyst, we will be looking for students and recent graduates who have the educational background and/or work experience described below. A full description will be available on our website once we begin accepting applications.

To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess one of the following:

A. Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) in your bachelor’s degree will allow you to qualify. For information on SAA, refer to Section 4-F at the following OPM Website: General PoliciesOR

B. At least one full year of graduate level education in a related field OR

C. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the federal government. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing or assisting in the review, analysis, and evaluation of accounting operations within an agency finance center; and reconciling and processing financial transactions and records.

When we begin accepting applications, we will be looking for students and recent graduates who:

  • Received a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from an accredited educational institution within the past 2 years.
  • Will complete their degree or certificate requirements by June 30, 2017.
  • Are veterans and were not able to apply due to military service. Veterans may apply up to 2 years from the date of release from active duty, but not more than 6 years from the date of graduation

Other Information

Some information about pay and promotions In this program, you will have the opportunity for rapid advancement. Each year you are in the program you will be eligible for a promotion.

  • Within 1 year, you will be eligible for advancement to the GS-09 level (current salary starts at $53,435)
  • Within 2 years, you will be eligible for advancement to the GS-11 level (current salary starts at $64,650)
  • Within 3 years, you will be eligible for advancement to the GS-12 level (current salary starts at $77,490) Once you get to the GS-12 level, you can apply and compete for a higher grade, such as a GS-13 or 14.

Are there bonuses?

Some bonuses are available, but they come after the year-end review process in late September. Bonuses are either a small percentage of your annual salary or additional paid time off.
