Washington State Computer Audit Specialist in Washington


In addition to your base salary, you will receive an additional 5%, in pay, while permanently assigned to the Computer Assisted Audit Program unit.

The Audit Division's Sampling & Electronic Data Analysis (SEDA) unit of the Computer Assisted Audit Program (CAAP), has an opportunity for a Revenue Auditor 3. This opportunity is open for Department of Revenue employees only. The successful candidate will remain in their current location.

In this position, you will serve as the auditor-in-charge for audits of the largest business organizations and technically diverse business firms. You will evaluate business activities and accounting records to determine if taxpayers are in compliance with applicable tax laws and have correctly reported their tax liabilities. You will rely heavily on your extensive knowledge of electronic accounting software to obtain a wide variety of accounting data and converting the data into a usable format. In addition, you will ensure the integrity of business's accounting systems by analyzing and evaluating the generated data.

Some more of what you'll do:

  • Assess audit risk by evaluating systems, procedures and internal controls.
  • Develop, maintain and teach technical training classes.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with supporting schedules and instructions to taxpayer's future reporting.
  • Review audit reports of subordinate auditors for correct application of tax law, policies, errors in theory and grammar.* * Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who have the following:

Bachelor's degree with major study in accounting, or a Bachelor's degree in business administration or allied field which includes 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of college-level accounting (may include credits from one Business Law class).


A bachelor's or graduate degree and is CPA Exam eligible.


Two (2) years of experience as a Revenue Auditor 2, or four (4) years of professional accounting, tax compliance or tax examination experience.

Preference may be granted to candidates who have the following in addition to the qualifications above:

  • Permanent status as a Revenue Auditor 2 or higher in the Audit division. To be considered:
