Washington State DSHS Long Term Care Surveyor in Washington
The Department of Social and Health Services/Residential Care Services (RCS) Division is currently recruiting for On-Call Long Term Care Surveyors located statewide.
Residential Care Services is part of the Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA). The ALTSA Vision is: Seniors and people with disabilities living with good health, independence, dignity, and control over the decisions that affect their lives.
The job classification for these positions is Long Term Care Surveyor. The working titles of the positions are: Supported Living Complaint Investigator, Nursing Home Surveyor, Adult Family Home Licensor, Assisted Living Facility Licensor, and Enhanced Services Facility Licensor.
You will conduct statewide onsite investigations and surveys in different types of facilities, such as Adult Family Homes (AFH), Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), support living households, nursing homes, and Enhanced Services Facilities (ESF). As a Long Term Care Surveyor your duties will include evaluating active treatment and resident care and health care issues within parameter of state and federal regulations. Conduct interviews of all (residents, facility staff, etc.) who possess relevant information. Recognize deficient practice. Gather detailed data to make regulatory based licensing decisions. Communicate survey and investigation results to management and testimony at administrative hearings. Be objective, and communicate clearly to facilitate quality improvement processes through regulation based technical assistance and feedback. Conduct follow-up visits to determine compliance.
*Who We're Interested In *
Professionals with a Master's degree in social work, speech pathology, occupational or physical therapy, psychology, special education, nutrition, sociology, or an allied field AND two years of professional experience in planning, administering, licensing, monitoring or delivering social and health service programs; OR A Bachelor's degree in social work, speech pathology, occupational or physical therapy, psychology, special education, nutrition, sociology, or an allied field AND four years of professional experience in planning, administering, licensing, monitoring or delivering social and health services.
Certain positions, such as Nursing Home Surveyor, require Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) certification.
Travel and per diem reimbursement is available when conducting official state business.
