Job Summary: The Senior Vice President of Supply Chain is responsible for the overall strategic direction, as well as the tactical execution, of all aspects of Supply Chain Operations for a multi-hospital system (10 facilities). This includes all supply expense management, procurement, distribution, customer service and supporting technology. In addition, this position also is responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing a regional contracting plan focused in the areas of contract services and physician preference areas, while maximizing business diversity opportunities. This individual is responsible for managing over $ 400 million in annualized supply expenses, through reviewing and optimizing the HealthTrust contract portfolio, developing comprehensive clinical and utilization protocols, and developing and executing a product standardization plan for the entire system. This individual is responsible for building strategic relationships and ongoing alliances with System Leadership, Hospital Chief Executive Officers and Chief Financial Officers as it relates to successfully executing our Supply Chain Operations Plan.
Responsible for the overall leadership of all Supply Chain activities with the client including but not limited to:
Executing a continuous improvement program for all supply chain functions
Standardization and optimization of Procurement, Distribution and facility based supply chain activities
Managing Supply Chain Department Budgets
Coordination of Capital Budget plan with Hospital and System leadership
Develops strategy for optimizing and developing additional shared services as appropriate to the client’s strategic plan
GPO portfolio review/ optimization
Development and execution of Regional and Business Diversity contracting plan
Develops Supply Cost Management Plan in conjunction with the Clinical Resource Director
Development and implementation of comprehensive value analysis processes for the system and facilities
Develops and improves customer satisfaction with the hospitals and other customers.
o Leads system and facility supply chain employees
o Provides leadership in the area of expense management to contribute to the facility or IDNs overall supply expense management plan.
o Provide guidance to GPO account management and implementation resources to ensure overall relationship is being maintained at the highest level
o Assimilates information from variety of sources, able to analyze data and make strategic recommendations and executes a course of action for all elements of supply expense management and supply chain operations
o Responsible for managing facility expectations and delivering cost savings according
o Interacts and develops strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, physicians, hospital, and system leadership
o Establishes and meets supply expense savings goals
o Manages department budgets
o Collaborates with facility teams to track and analyze financial data and operational data/metrics
o Provides cost saving enhancement strategies to support supply expense management
o Develops standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the team to quantify savings solutions
Supply Chain Operations
o Develop and implement supply chain policies and procedures
o Optimizes all supply chain systems including but not limited to MMIS, POU and associated systems
o Optimizes item and vendor file integrity
o Responsible for planning, measuring, executing and tracking all supply chain projects
o Coordinates and reviews physical inventories
o Evaluates and implement additional supply chain optimization or shared services as appropriate
o Develops comprehensive Expense Management Program inclusive of:+ Value Analysis Processes + GPO implementation and Optimization + Pharmaceutical Expense + Physician Preference Items + Purchased Services
o Develop and maintain contracting plan inclusive of GPO, system and facility agreements contracts
o Directs multiple projects and tasks in a fast paced environment that includes:
o Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute
o The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management
o Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects
o Develops milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved that includes facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation
o Assign goals to direct reports as appropriate and monitors goal achievement
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, economics or related field is required. Advanced Degree Preferred.
7 years hospital management experience in either an administrative, Financial, or Supply Chain/ Materials Management leadership capacity.
Multi-facility experience preferred.
