With its corporate office located in Westwood, Mass., BIDCO offers physician groups and hospitals the structure to contract, share risk, and build care management systems together, with the goal of providing the highest quality care in the most cost-efficient way.Job Location: Westwood, MAReq ID: 18568BRJob Summary: The Director of Legal Services reports to the BIDCO Chief Operating Officer. This position is responsible for providing internal counsel on a range of substantive issues relating to BIDCO's core functions as an ACO. The attorney may represent the entities in business matters, corporate matters, real estate matters, governance and human resource issues, enrollment issues, minor litigation, contract review and negotiation issues, transactional matters, compliance and regulatory issues. The attorney must maintain excellent relationships with all levels of employees and management within BIDCO as well as all Members of BIDCO.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drafts and negotiates contracts and agreements including payor contracts, services agreements, and governance documents. Advises clients about the impact of recent regulatory and legislative changes and guidance.

  • Maintain thorough and current knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations concerned with healthcare.

  • Provide consultation and education to BIDCO on corporate governance issues, Board responsibilities, enrollment issues, human resource issues, and other matters of interest.

  • Represent BIDCO in often complex transactional matters including working in close collaboration with BIDCO to understand the goals of the transaction, drafting documents, successfully negotiating documents and bringing the transaction to a successful conclusion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Juris Doctorate required.

  • Must have admission to the Massachusetts bar.

  • 5-8 years related work experience required in Law.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  • Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.

  • Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.

  • Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
