Your tasks and responsibilities
The Primary Responsibilities of this role, Senior Manager Project Management Nutritional GI, are: Responsible for all Product Supply related Project Management activities related to new product launches, product changes and product cost reduction marketed in the US by Bayer Health Care for Business Unit(s) as assigned. This includes the coordination of all new product launches, production site transfers, line extensions, bonus packs, and changes to existing products – ensuring that all initiatives are delivered on time and under budget. This position will represent Product Supply interests in US headquarters functions and on global project teams.
Major tasks and responsibilities of position: • Supervise, coach and mentor a team of Project Managers focused on leading all assigned projects including new product launches, line extensions, product changes, packaging changes, special packs, etc; • Ensure projects coordinate with all functional areas to ensure product development and manufacturing compliance with Medical, Regulatory, Legal and cGMP requirements and guidelines; • Identify capital needs, resource conflicts, and capacity shortfalls and analyze project risks; • Responsible for implementation and compliance with the PS project management process in the US including leadership of the “Visibility and Prioritization” process with assigned BU / Brands. Responsibilities include leading the cross functional prioritization of projects within and across assigned BUs; • Balance resources with project demand assigning and reassigning projects as deemed necessary; • Lead project management functions for all assigned production site transfers, line extensions, bonus packs, and changes to existing products; • Responsible to exercise prudent judgment about when to escalate issues to Senior Management related to product launch timing, cost or compliance; • Responsible to ensure proper Risk Management judgments’ are made visible and executed; • Manage product supply related activities for Rx to OTC switches, and for any potential acquisition due diligence initiatives. • Project manages Operational Excellence related initiatives as required; • PS point of contact for new product launch ideas for assigned BU / Brands. Act as a resource and sounding board for the Marketing team when brainstorming or evaluating potential new products especially at the Gate A stage; • For those projects not led by Product Supply, coordinate Product Supply input to timelines, cost development, manufacturing launch plans, technical feasibility assessments, capital needs, validation and stability assessments; • In addition to supervision responsibilities, Sr Manager Project Management will directly manage projects as assigned.

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: • B.S./B.A. in Business, Logistics, Engineering or an equivalent qualification. • 15+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, consumer products or similar industry. • Proven ability to supervise others – setting clear expectations, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating performance. • Proven capability to lead cross-functional project teams. • Basic knowledge in pharmaceutical technology, biology, microbiology, chemistry, engineering or a related field. • Understanding of legal, regulatory and GMP environment in OTC marketing and manufacturing. • Sufficient theoretical and practical background in forecasting, production planning, purchasing, and logistics. • Prudent risk-taker with experience and background that supports an intuitive understanding of the trade-offs between business decisions. • Effective oral and written skills to communicate technical and non-technical issues to various levels of management within and outside the organization. • Skills to effectively resolve conflicts in a team environment. • Negotiating skills. • Ability to use Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and other software packages. • Ability to manage a high volume of projects simultaneously. • Ability to manage a team of 6 – 10 direct reports. • Ability to see the “big picture” – able to optimize Product • Supply resources in order to best meet and exceed Division objectives.
