Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, as a Vice President of Communications for Consumer Health, are to:

The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the successful long-term performance for Bayer; however, specifically for Bayer Healthcare Consumer Care in the U.S. The incumbent will be a major contributor to the development and implementation of worldwide BHC pharmaceuticals communications strategies and policies for issues management, strategic initiatives and communication strategies and policies in the U.S. Incumbent will be a member of the U.S. Communications and Public Affairs Leadership Team, directly reporting to and led by the Senior Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs.

• Oversee development and management of integrated strategic internal and external communication programs that maximize appropriate positioning opportunities for Bayer Consumer Health products and programs, and support its desired image among key internal and external audiences; • Utilize freelance and/or agency support until such a time as a team can be developed and led to support the Consumer Health business in the United States; • Shape organizational change efforts for CC North America by developing an employee engagement strategy targeting critical culture and capability goals, and overseeing implementation across CC leadership team and partner functions; • Establish a measurement approach for engagement and communications that tracks progress toward desired future state as well as operational effectiveness of individual tactics; • Develop and implement internal communications strategy, plan and content supporting and advancing the employee engagement plan; • Participate on global Consumer Health Communications Leadership Team and serve as coordinator for all communications in the U.S.; • Shape global CC internal strategies and communication activities and processes as key market representative; align with and leverage global messaging and programs for North America adaptation and impact; • Deliver executive communications counsel and content for the North America region head and leadership team; • Participate as member of North America CC Leadership Team; • Working in close collaboration with Consumer Health Global Communications, Public Affairs and Global Category Business Units to advance Bayer’s stakeholder engagement strategy to protect and defend the company’s reputation from potential threats and risks, particularly involving its products; • Provide professional communications support to create and execute programs that assure maximum sustainable positive exposure – proactive public relations for the Bayer brand and programs/advocacy, reactive issues management and crisis communications (including product and site issues and litigation), fully integrated internal/employee communications and strategic communications support to executive • leadership in close collaboration with Consumer Health Global Communications; • Oversee and advise Bayer Consumer Health executives and senior managers about environmental and political trends and strategic communication issues; • Lead corporate social responsibility and all giving programs for Bayer Consumer Health in the U.S.; • Collaborate with Bayer’s U.S. Donations officer to manage contributions programs to assure compliance to industry standards and corporate policy.

• Bachelor’s degree and 15 plus years of professional experience including communications, organizational effectiveness or change management, and/or marketing; • Experience in directing internal communications activities in large, multinational company, preferably in life sciences sector; • Experience in designing and implementing integrated, multichannel communication and/or marketing programs; • Track record of effectively leading and communicating a wide range of quickly changing topics without previous subject matter expertise; • Experience in both North America and global roles preferred • Global/U.S consumer products experience preferred; • Demonstrated persuasive communicator, both written and oral; • Experience in working with industry trade groups, outside public relations and advertising agencies, senior management and employees at all levels of the organization; • Must have sufficient experience and skill to provide expertise and direction to a wide range of activities with a variety of objectives; • Ability to command the attention and respect of other members of senior management and, at the same time, understand the intricacies of dealing with people, particularly third-party individuals and organizations; • Proven ability to be diplomatic; • Must be able to influence and achieve results without direct line responsibility and lead/drive groups to consensus; • Politically astute and able to influence people with disparate views and priorities to advance the best interests of Bayer and Consumer Health; • Ability to understand the business goals, objectives, plans and priorities of the company; • Ability to work effectively with technical thought leaders; • High level of energy, initiative and ownership; • Demonstrated success in conceptual and problem solving capabilities; • High result orientation with proven track record of strong implementation skills; • Strong interpersonal and partnering.
