The White River Junction, VAMC is recruiting for a Urologist for Surgery Service.

The Staff Urologist will work directly with the Chief of Urology to provide the most effective delivery of Urological subspecialty care throughout the medical center. He/she provides subspecialty services including complex male reconstructive surgery (penile prosthesis and artificial urinary sphincter placements, urethroplasty, complex ureteral reconstruction), female urology (female incontinence procedures, prolapse repair, Interstim), and endourology/complex stone disease (PCNL, including obtaining access and treating staghorn calculi, complex ureteroscopy, laparoscopic pyeloplasty). Fellowship training in these areas is required. In addition, the urologist provides urology-related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, ICU, inpatient wards and outpatient clinic settings as needed. Additional clinical responsibilities include provision of on-call coverage on approximately three of four evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must qualify for an academic appointment with Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, as will be actively involved in teaching and training of urology residents from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure. (4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1. Applicants must provide a copy of their college transcripts. c. Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. d. Physical Requirements. Must pass a pre-employment physical. e. English Language Proficiency. Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English.
