PPD has a senior management opportunity within our Department of Biostatistics at ourHeadquarters in Wilmington, NC! Relocation assistance is available.

  • Summarized Purpose: *

    Coordinates the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and Working Practice Documents. Interacts extensively with a multi-disciplinary senior management team to identify critical needs and develop strategic initiatives.

    Coordinates process improvement and implements programming standards.

    Provides programming oversight for strategic client relationships, and/or oversight for significant client portfolios.

    Education and Experience:

    • Degree or equivalent in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field or previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.

    • 12 years of programming and clinical research or related experience

    • Must have database management, SAS or PL/SQL programming experience

    • 5 years of management responsibility - proven leadership skills

    • Expertise managing and developing staff and their career objectives including the ability to motivate and inspire staff

    • Ability to train, supervise and mentor others

    • Ability to facilitate communications with clients, project teams, departments and staff

    • Ability to assist business development in the process of obtaining new clients and retaining existing clients

    • Ability to make decisions on company policies and procedures regarding programming

    • Understand and track project budgets

    • Understand and participate in bidding programming work

    • Demonstrated leadership and problem solving capability

    • Proficient in one or more programming languages and have strong technical skills

    • Knowledge of clinical trials

    • Thorough understanding of company processes particularly in Data Management and Biostatistics

    • Understanding of relational data base structure and experience working with complex data systems

    • Demonstrated strong attention to detail

    • Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary project team

    Working Conditions and Environment:

    • Work is performed in an office/ laboratory and/or a clinical environment.

    • Exposure to electrical office equipment.

    • Occasional drives to site locations, frequent domestic travel and rare international travel.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.

    • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

    • Moderate mobility required.

    • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.

    • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

    • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.

    • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

    • Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally & externally.

    • Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
