PPD Programmer Analyst/ Senior Programmer Analyst - RTP, NC or home-based any location in the United States in Wilmington, North Carolina
PPD's global clinical biostatistics and programming team offers more than statistical analyses. We bring a deep understanding of the science of disease and compounds, as well as provide valuable upfront study design and comprehensive planning assistance.
We have several advanced computer programming positions open at multiple levels at ourMorrisville, NClocation working with clinical trials data (*remote location is also an option but on-site in Morrisville a few days a week is preferred).
Provides programming support for some or all of the following activities: creation and maintenance of programs used for data entry, data management, data validation, statistical report generation, and program validation.
Assists Data Management and Biostatistics with developing tools and techniques for improving process efficiencies. Communicates effectively within a multi-disciplinary project team to complete assigned tasks on time and within budget.
Ability to act as a Lead Programmer on selected studies, provide quality control support for statistical programming, represent Biostatistics department within the company, interface with client, and interface with client as required.
Understands and follows department's working practice documents and SOPs, and contributes to their development as needed.
Understands and follows appropriate corporate SOPs.
Independently creates, executes, maintains, and validates programs that transfer data across multiple data management systems or operating systems, combines data from a variety of sources and structures, generates and stores summary data from a variety of sources, generates reports or combines multiple databases.
Independently creates, executes, maintains, and validates programs that generate listings, tables and figures using SAS.
Performs other programming tasks as necessary to support Clinical Data Management and Biostatistics.
Assesses and ensures the validity of all program output.
Serves as a project lead and oversees work of other programmers on team.
Documents all work; manages assignments to meet timelines and produces high quality deliverables.
Functions as a contributing member of a multi-disciplined team.
Actively seeks information to gain good understanding of the role of the programmer in the overall process.
Increases knowledge base and professional skills in areas including programming, technology and techniques, clinical trials, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Provides general infrastructure support to the Biostatistics Department. Examples include presentation / teaching at Department meetings, contributing to other general department documents and policies, or assisting with Biostatistics web page content.
Acts as mentor and first level escalation for Associate Programmer and Programmer Analyst I
Provides quality control support
Inputs into bidding process and assists on biostat metrics.
Education and Experience:
MS/MA degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field and a minimum of three (3) years experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification, and
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

Working Conditions and Environment:
Work is performed in an office/ laboratory and/or a clinical environment.
Exposure to electrical office equipment.
Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Frequent mobility required.
Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.
