Join our experienced Spirit team as an Ambulance Driver/EMT-Basic! This is a casual position based in the Northern Region, which includes Woodruff & Rhinelander, WI. The primary responsibility of the EMT-B is to operate all aspects of the ambulance driving systems including lights and siren operation, cellular telephone and radio communications. Operating the ambulance will be done safely and be in accordance with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's laws and guidelines for operating emergency vehicles. In addition, the EMT-B will assist the medical crew as needed on inter-facility transfers and / or on intercepts in accordance with the EMT-B scope of practice as defined by the State of Wisconsin. The driver will have unit based duties to perform during downtime. Such duties will be base specific and will be per the direction of the base manager to include, but not be limited to: vehicle care, maintenance, and assisting in hospital departments primarily the Emergency Department. ED duties may entail: answering call lights, vital signs, room turnover, patient transport, clerical duties, and other patient care aspects specific to the Emergency Department per RN delegation. There may be other duties assigned as well. Performance evaluations will be conducted by the MTS base manager with input from the department managers of the units where non-transport time duties are performed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS or RESPONSIBILITIES: Driving Safely operates either intercept vehicles or ambulances in varying weather conditions Accurately read road maps and operate the GPS Keeps the supervisor updated on operations that are out of the norm. Maintenance Performs daily vehicle checks Maintains vehicle maintenance log and facilitates any maintenance needs Cleans the vehicles Patient Care Assist with patient loading or unloading including carrying patient care equipment and supplies. Assist the medical crew as directed but within the scope of an EMT-B Assists on hospital units per base needs as outlined by the base manager ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operates and maintains communication with home base or destination sites via radio or cellular telephone as directed by the medical staff. Refuels ambulance as needed AGE OF PATIENT CARED FOR: Newborn through geriatric. Qualifications: Minimum Education Required : High school diploma or equivalent is required along with EMT-B certification Minimum Related Years of Experience ( per minimum education ) Required: Minimum of three years driving experience holding a regular driver’s license is required and at least one year of experience driving emergency vehicles is preferred. Credential/Licensure Required : • Current State of Wisconsin EMT-B licensure is required. Successful candidates must maintain a minimum of current EMT-B licensure and must meet initial guidelines set forth by the National Registry of EMTs. • Must hold a valid regular driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Ministry Health Care Fleet Safety and Associate Driving Policy • Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) is preferred at the point of hire, but is required to complete orientation. • Current CPR / BLS certifications are also required Job: Ambulance Services
