Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

This leader will lead and grow the Reputation Risk Oversight (RRO) sub-team responsible for integrating reputation risk into enterprise technology solutions and overseeing the reputation risk appetite program, reputation risk inputs into the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Mid-Cycle Stress Test (MCST) submissions, issues management system, audit processes, and the reputation risk escalation log.

This leader will partner and collaborate with risk and business leaders across groups and enterprise functions, as well as legal and audit teams. This role requires solid partnership and collaboration skills, as much of the work will be accomplished through virtual teams and partners across Wells Fargo.

The preferred candidate possesses a knowledge base and enterprise-level risk experience to be able to interact with risk and compliance leaders to critically evaluate proposals, exercise credible challenge when appropriate, and facilitate suitable solutions. Moreover, the candidate will have the ability to visualize beyond immediate legal and risk concerns, and possess an ability to identify potential reputation risk events.

  • The Candidate*

This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing RRO program team. This leader will have a track record of success in building and managing industry-leading risk review programs in the financial services industry. This leader will have substantial experience leading best-in-class risk management functions, and a thorough knowledge of highly disciplined business, financial and risk management processes. In addition, the candidate will understand fundamentals of data mining and will have experience partnering with technology leaders to create efficient and effective solutions.

Relationship management, organizational skills and credibility will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability.

  • Key responsibilities include:*

  • Leads process and technology integration consistent with Target Operating State initiatives, including, but not limited to reputation risk oversight alignment with Business Continuity Planning, RRP and other risk programs including Conduct Risk, Ethics Oversight, Sales Practices, Complaints Oversight, BSA/AML, and others.

  • Provides intellectual and practical leadership for reputation risk oversight’s contributions to company stress testing processes

  • Hires (and subsequently manages) team members responsible for RRO alignment with integration into issue management, new business initiatives, risk appetite, key indicators, audit coordination and technology development

  • Leads data mining strategy development to identify reputation risks using detective controls

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • 5+ years of program management experience

  • Experience with strategy development and implementation

  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment

  • Ability to work across multiple lines of business leading large scale initiatives

  • 5+ years of analytical experience

  • Experience developing operational reporting and performing complex data analysis

  • Ability to communicate trends and impacts to mid-senior level management

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
