Senior Program Manager – IT Portfolio Management

Location: Round Rock, TX or Southboro, MA

General Summary:

The Senior Program Manager will join our global IPE (Infrastructure Platform Engineering) Planning and Strategy team, focused on Portfolio management and governance, budget oversight and strategic initiatives. This role will focus on managing the Infrastructure Engineering portfolio of work, including the work efforts which support the broader IT organization. The ideal candidate will be technology-minded, solution oriented, passionate about building strong adaptable processes, and able to deliver consistent results which drive the success of the IPE organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees multi-million dollar IT Project portfolio, ensuring results contribute positive business value and meet agreed on scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives

  • Addresses and oversees planning initiatives related to portfolio governance

  • Actively engages and partners with business / IT executives and leaders, to continually drive for greater quality in portfolio execution and delivery of higher-valued business outcomes

  • Acts as a valued leader and authoritative / decisive advisor within IPE Organization

  • Uses portfolio management, financial oversight and process knowledge to engage and influence others to push the envelope and evolve the organization


  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent work experience

  • Portfolio planning and governance experience – variety of methodologies

  • Strong Financial acumen

  • Strong program / project management experience

  • Strong business process and strategic capabilities

  • IT industry / technology experience

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft SharePoint is a plus

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US with no restrictions; visa sponsorship not offered with this position


  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Leadership skills

  • Technical acumen – strong understanding of the industry and Dell Technologies

  • Ability to work in a large/complex organization, understand breadth of needs, and prioritize accordingly

  • Strong focus on understanding and meeting needs for our customers

  • Good planning skills

  • Self-starter; ability to manage own work and follow up/coordinate task with others

  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills
